We are pleased to announce that we are fully trained and qualified to install & repair Nest Smart Thermostats at very competitive rates.
If you are unsure how the Nest thermostat works, then let me tell you a small amount about the thermostat. The Nest thermostat can be controlled via your mobile phone and tablet, this means that you are able to turn the heating on, on the way home from work and your house will be nice and toasty for when you get home. This also helps if you forget to turn the heating off when you go out or are working late. Another feature that the Nest thermostat is able to provide you, is by sensing the temperature outside and it will turn your heating on of off depending on the weather, therefore saving you money if it is going to be a nice sunny day.
There are other products other than the Nest thermostat that will save you money and energy. One of these options is weather compensation controls. These are controls that are similar to the nest thermostat with sensing the outside temperature however this is a more accurate way to operate due to a external sensor being installed with your system which constantly relays the outside temperature information back to your boiler and the boiler modulates the output depending on the temperature. In every system that I have installed this product, I have had nothing than good praise for this option with brilliant gas savings.
Under Floor Heating
The beauty of under floor heating is that it’s invisible, easy to use and more effective then more conventional heating systems. You’ll always be in control so you can change the temperature at a touch of a button. It is more economical than conventional systems. Under floor heating is ideal for buildings under construction or renovations, new conservatories, extensions, kitchens and bathrooms.
There are two types of under floor heating systems, both electric and water based heating systems are available.
Under floor heating is a great alternative to traditional heating methods. It doesn’t occupy any living space, can’t be seen or heard, and is more cost effective. Additionally, heat is distributed more evenly throughout the rooms and temperature can be controlled using various different methods. Under floor heating requires only low temperature warm water and is ideal for use with modern condensing boilers and heat pumps. With under floor heating, comfort levels are high and running costs are low.
Under floor heating is widely used in Europe and has in recent years become quite popular in the UK, both for new builds and updating existing properties. As with most things, there are various factors for and against under floor heating and whether it is the choice for you depends largely on your lifestyle.
With an under floor heating system, the floor itself becomes the heat emitter and the heating of the room is from the floor up, unlike radiators in a normal central heating system where the emitters are mounted on the wall and the room is, effectively, heated from the ceiling downwards.
Water based under floor heating systems uses water heated to a lower temperature than conventional water central heating (typically 50°C rather than 60°C plus), which makes it ideal for use with a high efficiency condensing boilers; the lower operating temperature also makes it more suitable for use with heat pumps or solar water heaters.
Whichever system is used, the heat source is located under the floor and the area to be heated is separated into separate zones (normally one zone per room) and each zone is heated and controlled independently.
The benefits of under floor heating
Water based under floor heating is often cheaper to run than central heating using radiators.
In wet areas, (bath, shower rooms, kitchen etc) the floors will dry off quickly
Hygiene – No dust and the under floor heating will help to reduce house dust mites which is a benefit to asthma sufferers. Moisture content is too low, to support dust mites.
Aesthetics & Labour Saving – You can design your home to suit your needs rather than that of your heating engineer. Cleaning of the floors is easier and wet floors dry very quickly. Prevents discolouration of paintwork, peeling of paper etc.
Silence & Comfort – Radiant heat will provide the highest comfort levels at an even temperature throughout. Compared to radiator systems, there is no noise. No annoying ticking as pipes expand in floor voids.
Cost effective – It has been proven that energy saving from 15-40% can be achieved with under floor heating.
Ease of control – Small temperature between the floor surface and the air above means the system is practically self regulating
Whether you are considering warming your bathroom floor tiles; taking the chill off those cold kitchen tiles; adding an extra luxurious feel to wood and laminate floors; conservatory heating or a total under floor heating solution for a new extension, James Gas Services have the answers you are looking for.
